Public Project @ GradComD
Public Project's mission is to break down the walls of the Institute and allow for a dialogue of mutual impact between the community at large and the faculty and students at Pratt. Public project seeks to broaden the educational experience of our students by developing partnerships with outside institutions, businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Centered around the themes of entrepreneurship, social practice, and research, students engage in opportunities to apply design thinking to real world challenges.
In keeping with the mission, Public Project houses a publishing initiative – Pratt Institute Press – to broadcast student research, critical writings, and formal design experiments to audiences beyond the Institute.
Pratt Initiative for Arts, Community and Social Change
The Pratt Initiative for Arts, Community and Social Change (IACSC) seeks to encourage and support students and faculty to use the power of the arts to further social change. We also seek to collaborate externally with community organizations and individual artists.
Graduate Design Guild
The Graduate Design Guild partners students from our programs in Design with industry through sponsored studios, offering professional experience and the opportunity for developing client relationships. Our most prominent collaboration is with Barnes and Noble, currently entering our fifth year as a brand in their Home & Gifts section. Products designed by Pratt graduate students can be found in stores nationwide and online. A recent article on the B&N sponsorship can be viewed in the PDF below.
Other partnerships include Moet Hennessy, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, NBC Universal, and North Shore Bottling.
