"The Power of then vs than." by Phil Cooke is an interesting little book on how you can use your will power to accomplish things. It is interesting and even educative, but I found that the real value in the book was the "now" and how it applies to your daily life. When I read this book, I realized that my subconscious mind was filled with exactly what I've always been told: that there is only now, nothing more, and that everything will turn out okay. I actually thought that the phrase, "the future is known, but the present is not," might apply to my situation. It was a pretty scary realization for me, considering all of the things I had previously been taught, that I had no idea how to prepare myself for the future.

I had been led to believe that "knowing" the future was important because I was supposed to prepare myself by living in the present so that I would know what the future would bring. The problem with that line of thinking was that I was also "not ready" for the future because I was living in the present, expecting the future to arrive. And that led to me chasing after the result I wanted rather than allowing myself to be caught in what was inevitable.

It's knowing how to let go of old beliefs and replace them with new ones that serve you better. It isn't like other books that simply regurgitate information that you've read many times over. Once you have this knowledge, you'll be able to change your life dramatically with very little effort.
